STAFFORD - After Keith Rocco outdueled Ryan Preece for an SK Modified victory at Stafford Motor Speedway on Aug. 19 Rocco said one of the advantages he had over Preece was that he was in his head.
Friday night, Preece had a message for Rocco.
"Nobody is in my head," Preece said.
Preece, of Berlin, held off the charges of Rocco over three late restarts to win the 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature at Stafford.
Rocco, of Wallingford, held on for second and Dan Avery of Somers was third.
It was the fifth victory of the season for Preece at Stafford and virtually locked up his first track championship.
