James Civali Fired By Hillbilly Racing NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Team; No Replacement Named By Team

Hillbilly Racing will be competing in the Whelen Modified Tour event at the CarQuest Fall Final this weekend at Stafford Motor Speedway, but it will be with a new driver in their car.

Team owners Roger and Sandra Hill fired driver James Civali of Meriden on Monday.
"It was a performance based decision," said David Hill, the team's crew chief and son of the team's owners. "We just weren't getting the results we needed. We'd have three real good races in a row and then he'd wreck two races. It wasn't his fault, just racing luck. We just ain't got no luck. James ain't go no luck and we ain't got no luck."
Civali said he wasn't totally surprised by the decision.
