Kevin Manion Statement On NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Penalty Against Team And Driver Ryan Newman

Late Wednesday, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series crew chief Kevin "Bono" Manion released a statement concerning the penalty handed down against his team and Sprint Cup Series driver Ryan Newman involving their actions during Saturday's Whelen Modified Tour F.W. Webb 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Newman, driving a car owned by Manion, drove to victory in the event. His car was later found to have illegal motor modifications to a degree so severe that NASCAR stripped Newman of the victory and suspended Manion from participation in the NASCAR regional touring division events for the remainder of the 2011 season.
Manion is the crew chief for Sprint Cup Series driver Jamie McMurray with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing.
