NASCAR announced Friday that they will eliminate post-qualifying starting lineup redraws in Whelen Modified Tour competition for the 2011 season.
The elimination of the redraw was part of a number of rule changes announced by NASCAR Friday for their regional touring divisions.
In qualifying at short track events, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour has long used a redraw rule that resets the starting field after qualifying. First, a number was drawn to decide if the top-six, eight or 10 qualifiers would draw for their starting positions, then those top-six, eight or 10 qualifiers would randomly pull numbers to see where they would start in the feature.
