Penalty Not Enough To Keep Doug Coby Off Whelen Modified Tour Spring Sizzler Pole At Stafford Speedway

STAFFORD - The standard practice at most tracks for NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour qualifying sessions is that drivers get two laps at speed during the single car time trial sessions.

When word got back to Doug Coby that his team was being penalized and would only get one lap to qualify Saturday at Stafford Motor Speedway, he could have gotten mad at the team member that made the mistake that caused the penalty.
Coby thought better of it though. It's usually not the best idea to scream at one of your car owners.
Instead of getting angry Coby made the most of what he had, winning the pole in qualifying for Sunday's Tech-Net Spring Sizzler 200 at Stafford.
Coby, of Milford, toured the half-mile oval in 17.985 seconds (100.083 mph) to capture his third career Whelen Modified Tour pole.
