Jason Bowles, winner of the January Toyota All-Star Showdown in Irwindale, Calif. topped the voting for the preseason edition of NASCAR's Hunter Index.
The Hunter Index, introduced in 2010, is a monthly poll ranking the top drivers of NASCAR's regional divisions and the Whelen All-American Series short track program. Drivers are voted on by a panel of 12 media members covering NASCAR and two NASCAR representatives.
Bowles earned six of 14 first place votes in the first poll of the year and had a one point edge in total points over defending Whelen All-American Series national champion Keith Rocco of Wallingford.
